Last year, the Social Enterprise Summit 2008 witnessed the joining of hands of different sectors for the first time to organize a series of activities. Drawing from that successful experience, major organizations from business, social services, academic bodies, think tanks and social enterprises are joining hands again this year to organize Social Enterprise Summit 2009, the major event being a two-day symposium (13-14 November, 2009) for Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau and China Mainland. The Summit is aimed to achieve the followings:

1. To cultivate practical methodologies for Social Entrepreneurship by developing impact measurement and inculcating business capabilities, with a view to helping all stakeholders, including government, to achieve their own objectives;
2. To establish a bridge and platform for funding bodies, investors and social enterprises;
3. To probe into practical ways to arouse greater business interest in social entrepreneurship as an investment opportunity;
4. To further promote the cause of social entrepreneurship as a feature of civil society and corporate citizenship; and
5. To capture the dynamics of change in the Greater China Region.
   

In addition, the Summit will hold a Dinner Gathering to facilitate face-to-face “Dialogue with Leading Social Entrepreneurs” and organize visit to local social enterprises.

在二十一世紀，不論在先進或發展中國家，社會企業均已成為社會改革、社區改善和投資的一股強大動力。社會企業日益受到更多人士的認同，其發展潛力則仍待拓展。在香港，政府和社會不同界別均對社企日趨重視。
去年舉辦的「2008社企民間高峰會」，是第一次跨界別、多團體的合作，成功組織了一連串活動。憑藉去年的經驗，包括商界、社會服務機構、學界、民間智庫、社會企業的多個團體再度攜手聯辦「2009社企民間高峰會」，其主要內容為一個兩天的研討會（2009年11月13-14日）。「高峰會」希望達致以下目標：

1. 通過建立社企的效能量度準則和企業能力，推廣實用的社企商業模式；
2. 為投資 / 贊助機構、投資者和社企之間建立橋樑和互動平台；
3. 研究吸引工商界進一步認識及認同社企為投資機會；
4. 進一步推廣社會企業為公民社會及企業公民的發展要素；
5. 了解兩岸四地社會企業的最新發展情況 。
   除研討會外，高峰會亦舉辦「與傑出社會企業家對談」晚宴和「本地社企參訪」的活動。
